How to Update phpMyAdmin in Xampp

This tutorial will show you how to update phpMyAdmin in Xampp. It’s very short and straight forward and should take no more than 5 minutes to do. Most of what you will be doing is replacing files. It is important thast you carefully follow the steps as there are some important files that you have to backup. But for illiminating any headache, Backup the phpMyAdmin folder in the xampp root folder. Now.. lets get started:

Step 1. Visit the phpMyAdmin Website

Step 2. Go to the Downloads Page

On the Downloads page, you will see the latest released version at the top. There will be multiple files for that version. Most of us will use the zip file as there are many softwares to open these files and Windows Explorer is capable of opening these types of files. If you speak only English, then you should download the English version which is at the bottom of the list. If you would like to have the option of changing language then you should choose the file that says “all languages“.

Step 3. Copy The file from the phpMyAdmin Folder

Next you should copy the file from the phpMyAdmin folder. If you have backed up the whole folder then you will not need to do this again.

Step 4. Delete All Files From The Current phpMyAdmin Folder

Step 5. Copy The Files From The Folder You Downloaded To The phpMyAdmin Folder

Step 6. Paste the File into the phpMyAdmin Folder.

Step 7. Check To See If Update Was Successful

Under the phpMyAdmin section of the Dashboard you will see the Version Information. Checkto see that this version number matches with the version you installed.
